Library

The Zalman Aranne Central Library is located on the Marcus Family Campus and serves all the university faculties: Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Natural Sciences, Business and Management, and Health Sciences as related to the community. The collection includes a wide variety of electronic, print and microform materials, e.g. books, journals, theses, databases, films, newspapers and maps. In addition, the library has several special collections: Rare books, Haggadot, the Isaiah Berlin Collection, the art room, etc. The library also offers cultural activities.near the main entrance of BGU.

Library hours:

  • Sunday to Thursday: 8:30AM – 7:45PM
  • Friday: 8:30AM – 12:45PM

The library is closed on Saturdays and Jewish holidays.

Your student ID card serves as a library card. If books are not returned on time there is a daily fine. Please be careful not to lose your student card, as you’re responsible for any books taken out on it.

Sports Center

BGU’s Sports Center is available for student use for a fee of 500 NIS (approximately $137) per year. Unfortunately, there is no fee for just the semester so students must pay for the entire year. The Center includes three swimming pools (one for winter use), six tennis courts, basketball courts and a regulation size soccer field. A variety of aerobics and other sports and exercise classes are offered. The Center features state-of-the-art cardio equipment and weight rooms that are available to students for a fee.

Health Center

A Kupat Holim Clalit health clinic is located at the University on the second floor of the student center. The Harel insurance policy that all students enroll in during their time in Israel allows OSP students to walk in without an appointment and see a doctor. (Click here for insurance and other health care information.) All clinic hours are subject to change. You will be advised of updated hours upon arrival in Israel.

Clinic hours:

  • Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays: 8AM – 4PM
  • Wednesdays: 8AM – 12PM

An additional option for OSP students is the Wingate Clinic located in the Gimel Neighborhood (where the dormitories are located) at 3 Hanna Senesh Street.

  • Sundays and Thursdays: 7:30AM – 12PM and 4PM – 7PM
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays: 7:30AM – 1PM
  • Fridays: 8AM – 12:00PM

Soroka University Medical Center, recognized internationally as an outstanding patient care and teaching hospital, is adjacent to the Marcus Family Campus. In the event of extreme emergency, OSP students are brought directly to Soroka.

Upon arrival in Israel, you will receive a health guide with additional information, including the phone numbers of the insurance company, as well as other health clinics in Beer-Sheva. A representative of the insurance company is available during the orientation period to provide more information.
